'a guy on a one year deal is playing to protect himself' - that was part of your reasoning for his down year last year. Why would you give that guy another 1 year deal?
I'm also not buying the whole team was bad so his decline was a team issue. Aaron Donald continued to bring it last year and graded out very well.
You can't pay large money to a guy who's not grading out at the top of his position. A lot of Trujo's success seems to have been tied to lining up opposite JJ - who is a true #1, big money guy. The guy they should've signed all along.
Offer him a long term deal with decent money and if he walks, he walks.
