you have a VALID POINT ... in this discussion we should not think that PFF is without merit.... because they have plenty of it.

On the other hand, I tend to back off of buying into PFF as the Jesus Christ of the NFL.... not saying anyone here does ... but some comments sort of lean that direction.

back in the late 1990's a lot of people followed Bernie Miklasz as if he was a cult leader...and what ever he said was the gospel truth.

in 2003 I visited Rams training camp (in Macomb IL) It was obvious to the most amateur observer (me) was that Kurt Warner wasn't the same Kurt Warner that we saw between 1999 and 2001.... yet following the very same practice I went to ... on the radio... Bernie M announced that Kurt Warner was back to his old self of the 1999-2001 days. (opening game of the season proved Bernie wrong). Bernie was mailing it in ... telling his cult followers what they wanted to hear and not how Kurt Warner was actually performing. I lost respect for Bernie that day, and from that time forward journalists had to earn my respect.

But let me digress ... here a couple of first-hand experiences of how I personally realized how much the media butchers the truth.

#1 ... way back when I played sports .. one game, I performed well, but the paper spelled my name THREE different ways in the article. ... WTF ... moral of the story is that reporters don't always do much fact checking.

#2 happened last December ... I was asked to submit a few (wine and spirits) ideas for a National magazine ... One of my submissions appeared on the front cover (wow 14 minutes of fame) ... the other submission was buried 90 some pages deep, but the 2nd submission (a recommendation, not a rating) had tasting notes written by someone else and using descriptors for flavors that never appear in that type of wine. Moral of the story is that editors will manipulate things while trying to appeal more to what readers want to hear and caring less about the actual truth. The magazine helped me (and the winery) sell a lot of that wine, but it tasted nothing like what was written in the magazine.

Every sports article I see, I can't help but wonder how much fact checking went into their work, or how much their work got butchered and modified by editors.

Bottom line ... I am all for people reading up on what the "experts" suggest, but we shouldn't let them make up our mind for us.... that being said ... QB Josh Allen ... I saw him with my own eyes (I made up my own mind) .. I like what I saw ... I anticipate that he will have a stellar NFL career.
