He has had the most favorable circumstances as a QB. In fact, more favorable than almost every QB in the modern era.
While he is a very good player, he has not taken advantage of the blessings with great players around him through the years. I think you can take 20 QBs in the NFL and put them in the Atlanta situation this past year and while they may all not end up in the superbowl, most would play at or near the pro bowl level.
In his early years, he had White, Turner, Gonzalez all at the same time. He always has had a good running game and has always had a game breaking WR. Jones is probably the best athlete in the NFL at any position and he has him as a go to option which means single coverage for the other WRs. The runningbacks are also very good.
I have still not watched the superbowl and I know many believe he fell short, but statistically he looks excellent, but Ryan's theme throughout his career is falling short when the opportunity is right in front of him and if there is adversity, he comes up on the short end. I actually felt that it could have been much worse if the Patriots would have gotten the early lead and put pressure on the Falcons and was actually surprised there were just a handful of plays that went south.
Given all of that, he is a top 10 QB in the NFL and other than Kurt Warner, the Rams haven't had anybody near as good in decades.
