IMO McVay is already the most competent guy in the Rams FO.
And that says more about the football acumen of Demoff and Snead than it does about the 30 year old McVay (alright soon to be 31 year old).
McVay was the guy who reached out to Wade Phillips, not Demoff or Snead or anyone else on their ace committee. Phillips confirmed that in his presser. And reportedly McVay told the Rams he thinks he could bring Wade in with him and they got excited about that. Imagine that? A 30 year old kid surprising the 2 senior execs on the Rams about making football moves before he was even hired.
The point here is that there is a decent chance that McVay has more on the ball organizationally than anyone in the Rams FO since Vermeil left. And he needs to have it.
McVay needs to evaluate all the personnel on this offense virtually by himself unless they bring in someone a lot better than Snead. Then he needs to get Snead and his crew to implement what he wants. Now that's another challenge.
Fisher is gone and he left McVay a mess on the offensive side of the ball. But you aren't the worst offense in the NFL for as long as the Ram have been and have it ALL be related to coaching. McVay has to reshape the offensive roster virtually on his own. Then he has to install a viable system, get the players to implement it, and overcome a 12 year losing culture.
That's not happening overnight. And it may not happen at all if McVay wilts under the pressure of doing almost all of it on his own. My hope is that he can get 6 wins out of the Rams this year.
And most new coaches are the ones who reach out to other coaches for their assistant coaches and coordinators.....I know you were excited to take another shot at Snead and Demoff, but there is really nothing to see here folks...move along.
