So, this was more than a little frustrating. While I scout for 3-4 teams and assign 3-4 designators to some players .. I have never evaluated for us in that manner.
What I'm working with ... Brockers and Cam Thomas can play the nose. Sims and Brockers can 5 tech ... Donald can likely do anything. I am not worried about the front 3 or 4 ... we may need depth there, but I don't think we have holes.
Forrest and Tree are fine ILBs in a 3-4, both played the middle in college, and they have plenty of size.
We HAVE to resign Tru ... I am not willing to develop a plan where that is not the case because I think it'll sink our defense to lose him. Not worried about our safeties. Keep TJ or not. It's a deep draft there, so I'm looking late rounds for safety help.
Now, on to the bits of the draft ...
CB is deep, but the high end is so thick and good, I can't imagine BPA not being CB at 37. Im even thinking of trying to trade down for an extra 4th ... where the depth gets really good. The top 10 or so players at the position are capable of developing into shutdown CBs. Lattimore, Humphrey, S Jones, Conley, Tabor, Wilson, A Jackson, Cordrea Tankersly, Desmond King, Tredavius White ... that's crazy talent. Then there are another 10 solid starters with big potential.
I think a "star" edge player is a first round thing usually .. and with Quinn on one side, we need another 3-4 backer that can be the "straight man" and blitz sometimes.
WR is a need ... but I have an even grade on guys rated in the 2nd and the 6th.
TE is a deep class.
There are no OTs I want.
I think also that we get Garcon and Vernon Davis. I also think the OC Jon Sullivan of the Redskins is free and likely to come over.
Without further ado
2)
Cordrea Tankersly CB Top 20 talent that slides due to the crazy talent at the position.
3)
Jake Butt TE Drops due to injury and ends up a pro bowler.
4)
Kai Nacua FS Ball hawking rangey huge player ...
4)
Jon Toth C Kentucky Kentucky players always get underdrafted.
5)
Vince Beigel 3-4 OLB This guy is the kind of player I love that gets underdrafted every year.
6)
Fred Ross WR One of the most grossly underrated WRs I've ever scouted.
6)
Joe Mathis 3-4 OLB This is a freak athlete that could take Quinn's place if he can't work in this new scheme.
7)
Christian Lacouture 5 T 6-5 310
Thoughts and comments welcome.
