Tomlin passing to close out game was key. So many teams punt the ball away and lose on a last second field goal in that situation. He passed on both 2nd and 3rd down in the last 2 minutes backed up in bad field position. Get the first down, however, and the game is over.
The Steelers deciding to pass and get the first down to close out the game was big and I am assuming Tomlin was part of that decision.
I don't particularly think Tomlin does any one thing that well as a coach, but I like him. His teams are energized and he really doesn't care how he wins so he adjusts based on the makeup of his team.
The Green Bay coach scares me late in the game. That 2nd and 8 NO WR set that almost put the Packers out of field position almost cost the Packers another chance at the superbowl. The kicker bailed him out with that long field goal to take the lead.
And
That meltdown against Seattle a couple of years ago running 9 straight times and punting the last 3 possessions is the worst I have ever seen. This was with the best player at QB in NFL history. Basically, the best player in NFL history wasn't allowed to get one first down, or even try for a first down.
Kudos to Tomlin for being open minded and even though he is a defensive coach, having enough of an open mind to close out that game.
