If this is all they can get from him, then using the #8 overall pick to draft him was unfortunate. Add to that the fact that the Rams also used a 2nd round pick to move into position to take him and the reality goes from unfortunate to catastrophic. They could have done so much better with those picks.
To me, the people who downgrade him this way are just making a category error. They assume he HAS TO BE a pure receiver or he's not worth it.
Well, I was advocating taking him BEFORE the draft and was saying THEN it was a mistake to see him as a pure receiver.
He does well as a more specialized receiver on a variety of routes, BUT you also have to combine that with his running, and being a decoy, and with being tied for 2nd in TDs on punt returns in the period since he was drafted.
So, don't look at him as a pure receiver, which is not what he is.
Look at him as a combined yardage weapon and recall that in 2015 he had 9 TDs (because in 2015 they used him right).
