Hearing the Rams have some interest in former Bears/Saints assistant Aaron Kroemer for vacant OC job. Other options have been blocked
If the Rams brought him in, I see McVay heavily involved with the play calling.
If Kromer could help build a successful OL, that alone could go a long way for Goff and the Rams offense, but why not try to get him in as the OL coach (where he was the past 2 years in Buffalo)?
There must be better OC candidates available?
Kromer, Callahan and Foerster.
So that’s a pattern.
My view is this.
Quite often the OL coaches are also the run game coordinators (Hanifan had that role with Martz).
So he is looking for a coordinator who has input into the running game.
It has nothing to do with "better" or "more qualified." All 3 guys are good, and are qualified BUT all 3 differ from the ordinary cliche that your OC was once a qb coach.
It's just a different way of conceiving of the position. AND it is a testimony to S McV wanting input where he sees himself as needing it.
....
After just reading that McVay wants to do the play calling, then what you said makes a lot of sense.
