After naming Kyle Shanahan the head coach they then hire Mike Shanahan as VP of Football Operations.

They get the HC they want and bring some name recognition to the FO at the same time while retaining Snead as GM.

Don't give a rip about name recognition. Shanny Sr. was a flop when given any personnel responsibilities with Denver and Washington.

Want to give him a job, fine. Just keep him away from personnel decisions.

He may not have been great, but I don't think he was a flop. His QB picks leave something to be desired but that isn't really an issue if he takes a job with the Rams. Goff and Mannion should have at least a few years to prove themselves before the position even needs to be addressed.

I'm not a Shanahan historian so I don't know in detail what he's done in Denver and Washington but it seems like he always puts together solid, playoff caliber teams. And that's when he's trying to do "everything". Focusing as a VP of football operations and not having to also coach, I could see him putting together a good franchise.
