Maybe, maybe not, 9er8er.
What if Demoff has seriously targeted only 4 candidates, himself? Remember, Demoff has had a 2 month head start on this HC search over Elway. The Fisher handwriting has been on the wall for at least THAT long. Heck, I wouldn't be particularly surprised if Demoff had started assembling a casual list of potential future HC candidates as early as the end of the '14 season, tbh.
And the other interviews are more designed to get some valuable feedback from respected sources as to outsider perceptions of Ram strengths and weaknesses? He said as much in a recent presser, after all.
Does that not only make Demoff's strategy seem sensible, but actually a danged good use of time?
The important thing is to get the right HC for the Rams. The interview process is just details that will soon be forgotten.
Let's assume the scenario you've presented is true. Why would they waste their time interviewing a bunch of people they know aren't going to be the guy they want to rebuild this team? And why would it be a good thing that they're listening to all these people who won't be a part of the organization for feedback on their current strengths and weaknesses rather than focusing on the actual guy they've targeted to be the guy who would be dealing with that? Are you suggesting they'd hire a coach and then tell him what he needs to do based on the feedback they received from others they didn't hire?
