What would make it work? If he did choose a GM he would like to work with who knows the ins and outs of the personnel side I'd rather have him than just about any other coach.
Really look at the list, who of the ten named so far blows you away? For all the hoopla ,there really is not a lot to choose from. Imo. So be bold, pull the trigger and sign McVay.
Can he lean on his connections like Gruden, Bruce Allen, to not only get a good GM ,but get the right staff to fix this team. It could work great. Still if reports are true that Denver Broncos like Vance Joseph and McDaniels ends up in SF they may still get Shanahan.
