I think he believed that the move gave him a free pass on whatever happened in 2016 and by the time he was being held actually accountable again, Boras would have his sea legs, running the kind of offense Fisher wanted, and everything would be fine. Fisher had a misguided sense of entitlement to the job and an overblown sense of the owner's undying gratitude towards him. An astounding arrogance, really.
