If you look at this list- rookie QBs since 2000 with 150+ pass attempts- there are 56 players. What stands out is that only 16 (29%) had a QB rating above 80.0 and that more than half had QB ratings below 75.0. Right now Goff's QB rating of 61.7 is 47th out of those 56. But behind him is not only Eli Manning but Matthew Stafford and Alex Smith.
He's on a team that can't block to save their lives and has dropped 21 passes this year (8 in his 6 starts). The kid needs some time to throw, a running game that can do better than 2nd and 12, and better coaching. He's missed throws for sure (several of the INTs, the missed TD to Quick vs. SEA, etc.) but I didn't see anything that concerned me about him when I watched him in person vs. the Saints and Patriots.
