He said; no state income tax in FL, owner who wants to spend, good young roster AND "if you don't like the QB you get rid of him in a year...what you going to do in LA if you don't like the QB? You are stuck with Goff.."
On the surface the JAGS and even the BILLS or any other NFL team/city with a new HC opening in 2017 might appear to be more attractive.
I crack up at this Fallacy of reasoning.Every new season when the new HC openings are available, the NFL social media likes to debate which Team/Franchise is the most attractive/sexy opening.
The reasons used by Prisco are generic.1.) State income taxes? Idiotic point of discussion imo... The newly hired HC of the Rams is going to get a Multimillionaire guaranteed contract.
(The new HC isn't going to be a backup free agent player signing that might not be on the team in 2 years and needs every penny he can get to support his family etc..)Even if the tax bracket lame overstatement was a real issue, Mr. Kroenke can and will easily over pay/compensate the new HC candidate making the state income tax argument a non issue of debate.
2.) Good young Roster?.. The Jags on paper do appear to have a good young roster and it might even be better than the Rams? The truth is both of these teams have young rosters and virtually the same W-L records.
(The last I time I checked, the Jags record was 3-12 and the Rams were 4-11 and the Rams are currently one of the 3 youngest teams in the NFL)Are these teams really that much different in talent level? Are we basing this on potential/prognostication? I think the talent level/potential of these young rosters is not black and white in comparison.
NFL roster talent in many cases can be misconstrued and judged differently in the eye of the beholder. The talent pedigree of these two rosters isn't a landslide of difference for interviewing HC's to contemplate.
(Both Jags/Rams rosters need Free Agency upgrades and solid 2017 drafts. The Rams don't have a #1 pick but they have all their picks in rounds 2 through 7 and they will be top 10 selections)3.) LA's QB situation. Stuck with Jared Goff? The Jaguars still have a young QB named Blake Bortles (#3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft) who by default will be the projected starter for the Jaguars new HC.
Unless Bortles continues to regress under the new HC's regime, he is their cat in the hat until they find someone better.
(easier said than done no matter how current a qb's draft status is.)Both HC's jobs are stuck with young QB's with big question marks about their long term talent.
Jared Goff may well not end up being the long term quarterback answer but until he's been given a full season under his new HC's guidance, nobody can guarantee how good or bad he will turn out by the 7 game sample on his final rookie resume after when next Sundays game ends.
It's true that JG has shown little hope of being a franchise QB #1 overall pick. (Under the Fisher/Boras/Weinke regime he can't be purely evaluated yet)
(I recently heard J.Clayton say that traditionally first round rookie quarterbacks get a grace period of 16 to 32 game starts before they can be truly evaluated.)We can revisit JG projections/failures and expectations after his 10th game played in 2017.
