It implies direct and honest.

A duplicitous statement, which is what that was, does NOT fall under the definition of straightforward.

If you mean it was a statement that made it easy to spot how he was misleading, which means he was avoiding or obfuscating rather than aiding understanding, okay.

When Fisher says "I was told there wasn't going to be any issues" you have no idea what that was in response to. You're making a prodigious leap here in your assertion of a duplicitous statement.

He could have informed Demoff and Snead, that our d-backs Jenks, Tru and McCleod" or priorities and make sure that you get them signed.

In which Demoff and Snead responded...there will be no issues.

That is not only a reasonable assumption but most likely more accurate than your interpretation, especially since it was reported early in the season that they considered them their main priority.

Sounds like you just make a great argument against your first argument that it was a straightforward statement. Guess not if all the ambiguity you just inserted was present.

Never the less, I'm making no assumptions here. I'm making conclusions based on facts. Fact that Fisher had full and final authority over personnel decisions. Fact that he hired Snead to work for him, not the other way around. Fact that Snead not only managed to survive the departures of McCleod and Jenkins, he was allowed to execute the biggest trade in NFL history. Not the kind of things that happen when a guy defies the explicit instructions and priorities of the guy who hired him and whom he works for. It is completely unreasonable, that is not based at all on reason and evidence, to assume otherwise.

There need to be some willingness on the other side. Its not like its a rare occurrence for an NFL team to lose a player or two they wanted to retain.

If you wanna question if he's scapegoating, I won't argue that, but I believe he was being straightforward.

They just didn't get it done.
