For me, the 2nd Knox gig was a "WTF". I followed his career in Buf and Sea and it was, like, Huh?
Later in life, learned that in 1978 Rams interviewed both Coryell and Bill Walsh. The old man was still alive and Klosterman and he were looking around, settled on George Allen who said Rams needed more toughness to win it all (when did George Allen win it all) and they bought the pitch.
Don't remind me about missing out on Walsh. He and Klosterman would have made quite a team.
They also interviewed Hall of Fame coach Eddie Robinson for the job.
Walsh would not have been Walsh with the Rams.
Boss man got him whatever he wanted.
You start out 2-14 and 6-10 in LA he would have been gone!
