It's not his fault.

He was hired to do a job that he doesn't have the ability to do. He didn't hire himself.

And the we're all tired line is pretty sad and made worse by "we signed up for it". At the risk of sounding harsh, that sounds like something a loser says. But then if you're not good at what you do then you're probably not stoked to do it anyway.
