To me, Gruden's ability to go get NFL caliber Asst.Coaches is his biggest asset. He will surround himself with a very, very good staff and that is why I am hoping he is the pick when it's all said and done.
Gruden himself will be the teams personality. The guy is all energy and enthusiasm on the field because he simply "LOVES THE GAME." He will be a great fit for Goff and our QB's.
Chuckie in Los Angeles will work.
Here;s the thing. I am being benignly provocative...just adding to a complicated conversation. BUT. No one--and I mean no one---knows who all the on paper possible candidates would be. No one is going to supply a long list including all the possible candidates, AND including an assessment of each one's ability to identify and hire good coordinators and position coaches.
And unless there is such a list, then comparisons are impossible.
If comparisons are impossible, then truth is, no one has any idea whatsoever how Gruden would stack up on such a list.
Therefore your claim is made in a vacuum. It's a mere supposition---speculation at best, and not even informed speculation, just armchair speculation.
Why do I say that? It's not personal. ALL coaching hire discussions are like that.
As posters it is the thing we do least well, and it is impossible for us to get better at it. We speculate in a vacuum. That's it. That's just the nature of coaching hire discussions.
