Count me as one who's also somewhat emotionally detached. It's why I could walk out of the Superdome on Sunday smiling and saying to my wife 'that was really fun."
I just don't think anything is settled either way. Of course Demoff when asked is not going to hint that Fisher won't be re-upped. He wants the team to keep fighting and clawing.
I do think Fisher has a chance though. Let's say, for argument's sake, they somehow win one of the next three vs. NE, ATL and SEA while being competitive (within 7-10 points) in each game. Then they win the final two at home. And all along Goff shows progress and more promise. Yes, they finish 7-9 with a couple hollow late season wins. But what if then Fisher (by choice or forced...) agrees to replace Boras, Weinke, and Boudreau (similar to Vermeil having to let Rhome go and hire Martz in '99) and bring in someone like Norv Turner or similar.
Can that be "sold" to the fan base? The focus of course being on Goff and his development. I'm not saying I agree. Just that it's a remotely possible path I see.
