As you say, posters just try to work out ways to deal with 5 more years of Ram futility. Each reacts in a way that works with his personality.
But, just for the record, I have never argued that Fisher was awful. He has not been awful. Linehan was awful. I thought Spags had virtues, but not enough.
Fisher has been mediocre. And mediocre is not awful. He brings certain capabilities to the job, enough to steal wins each year against good teams. You may recall that I have predicted each of the last 3 years or so that he would do just that.
Indeed, it is entirely possible that, if Fisher is canned, we may get an awful--that is worse--HC. That could happen.
But you know what I think is a bit strange? I think EVERYONE SEES the SAME THING in Fisher. The pattern hasn't changed for 5 years an d we are all dealing with it.
Where people differ most is about the future. Can one project from Fisher's 5 year pattern a significant break out from mediocrity? I think that's where people have differed.
But, I don't see too many left who continue to have hope in Fisher's leadership. It's pretty tough to imagine the pattern breaking after FIVE years.
Anyway, as you say, it doesn't matter what we say. It never does. A group like this is merely a fan community trying to find ways of processing the highs and lows of following their team. When I read a post from someone who takes a different view, I generally fall back on that insight. Guys are just dealing with things as best they can.
As for me, I think 2-3 year patterns very rarely change and I gave up serious hope in Fisher a couple of seasons back. And in the meantime, I have far less emotion invested in the team than I used to.
Hang in there, Ram fans far and wide!
Allz-I-Know, is Fisher built 2/3rds of a good team. Defense is good-but-not-great. Special teams are good. Offense is just really bad.
Same coach. Two out of three units are good-but-not-great.
I want to see a different offense. Thats all i got.
I seem to recall thinking something similar about George Allen...and Chuck Knox....and for a time John Robinson....and Ray Malavasi.....
DV is the only Ram coach i can remember who really put it ALL together.
