I honestly think that Fisher has seen enough from both Case and Goff to realize that the kid actually gives this team the best chance to WIN right now.
We're a game and a half out of a wild card with 7 games left to go... I don't think for one minute this team is throwing in the towel on this season.
Yes, this is great for his future development, but this move to me is more about actually trying to win games in the now.
Do I expect to go on a seven game win streak? No.
Do I expect to see better QB play and a spark? Yes.
This is as much about 2016 as it is 2017 IMO.
I think they thought he was ready during the bye, but didn't want to start him before or in the NY game.
I don't think it has anything to do with any other calculations. They said he would start when he was ready to start and now they think he's ready to start. I see no good reason (IMO) to view it any other way.
In terms of qb play going forward, my formula has always been this. The veteran can do some things the rookie can't do, but on the other hand, Goff can do so things Keenum can't do.

Yeah, I think the goal was to start him after the bye at home against Carolina, but after watching Carolina put a beating on Arizona and on David Johnson, and knowing that Carolina was #2 in the NFL against the run, opted to hold him out. Probably a good idea.
Then didn't want to start him on the road against a Jets defense that also shuts down the run being #5 in the NFL. Not to mention the winds can be a little tricky here at Giants Stadium.
Now is the time. Home game, and Miami is 29th defense against the run. Rams definitely want to run the ball this Sunday and not make Goff force anything. They will run the ball heavy. Or at least try to.
Miami and Tannehill have been overachieving winning 4 in a row and are due for a loss. If the Rams can run the football with any success, I think they win this game.
