I agree with the idea that his ability- and willingness- to throw more downfield could help Gurley and the running game.
Rams were already throwing downfield at a fair clip. The Rams are usually among the top third teams in the league in throwing passes of 31 yards or more and CK was no exception. They threw 5.6% of attempts 31 yards or more, and anything about 5% is in the top 3rd, usually.
Plus anything between 30% and 40% on completions in that range is good, and CK was at 31.2%. Which is fine. That's decent.
According to another metric, passes of 25 yards or more, Rams were tied for 4th. [

You didn't say this L but if anyone has the impression Rams were purely ball control/dink n dunk passing, they're wrong.
They might throw a few more in the longer ranges with Goff, but what a lot of people don't get about the Rams is, they always do that. They are always in the 5% or more area for longer attempts.
Where Goff might be different is on 11-20 yard passes, since he can zip those and CK couldn't. CK was a touch passer, while as we know Goff has a laser. So things like deep digs and deep outs, the line drive passes, the laser passes in the medium ranges...we could see more of those.
