Most if not all nfl teams do it.
Offenses run influence plays where they try and get an end to react to run counter on dive plays, traps, reverses, etc.
The end furthest away from the play will be left unblocked.
This philosophy is not unique to the Rams.
If the hole gets opened the end shouldn't have time to crash down on the back before he's through the los.
The play is not the problem...the execution is.
