Fisher: "He may start the opener, that's the goal"
I don't get it, seems like PLAIN english, MAY, doesn't mean he positively will nor does it contain a guarantee of starting on opening day. Fisher is doing what he as coach of L.A. Rams thinks is best for Goff and franchise despite all the devisive second guessers, doomsayers,alleged talent scouts, prognosticators, and wanna be GM's/coaches who don't have skill or fortitude to do what he does. Reporters are just doing their jobs, raising interest to get readers/consumers for their organization and its advertisors.
Let's just get through the season, see what happens, you can all then make your wishes known to owner by informing him of the falling skies!

In addition to saying "may", he said some variation of, "I don't when it's going to happen [Goff starting]," FOUR times in that paragraph. And he's answering a question of why he's NOT naming him the starter immediately.
For some reason, people want to take the one goal statement and think that that overrides at least four hedging statements of uncertainty as to the timing of him starting.
I don't get it either. It's like come on guys, let's move past one word and catch the spirit of what he was saying.
Hardly inspiring to consider it that way, is it? They just drafted the guy and even the HC has no confidence that he's going to be ready opening day, hedging his bets from day 1
