Austin would be a league terror if he was in a good offense on a good team.
This team has NO idea how to scheme him into some open space.
The Rams are offensively lost and confused, and will be under Fisher until the rules from the 80's are brought back.
The man will only hire people who want to run HIS outdated offense and use his wussy philosophy of trying not to lose.
Think this is an offense that any good FA players would want to come to? These vet players know who the dunces are and who the savants are. And Fisher is no offensive savant. And he is too insecure within himself (or too stubborn and deluded) to find a savant and turn the offense over to him.
The good news is that it seems to me that if Kroenke truly had already committed to bring Fisher back (as it was rumored weeks ago), he would have had a press conference and announced it. The optics of this as it stands make Fisher a lame duck coach. There is no way you come to an extension agreement, have it signed, sealed and delivered, and keep it a secret. It makes no sense from any angle.
So my ray of hope is that after the Rams go 6-10, Kroenke fires this imposter HC and gets someone with a 21st century outlook, and some actual understanding of offensive football.
I'd take Harbaugh in an instant. His problem with the Niners was the same as Martz had with the Rams: a politically, administrativly, and football inept FO. Yes, both Harbaugh and Martz are pains in the butt and prima donnas. But.....they are tremendous football minds that produce results. Their goal is not to be the team daddy, buddies with the Comish, or politically correct ; it is to win games at all costs. The rest simply doesn't matter.
