THOUSAND OAKS – The belly laughs and hoots coming from the locker room Tuesday indicated that the wounds from the Rams’ three-game losing streak have healed. The proof will arrive Sunday.

The Rams aren’t blind to the standings, or to reality. They should feel some tension, because unless they string together some victories in November, their playoff dream will vanish for the 12th consecutive season. Yet a certain levity, and a sense of bye-week refreshment, permeated the room after practice.

“We were on our high horse and we got knocked off,” defensive tackle Aaron Donald said. “It’s a part of the game. I think the bye week was perfect timing for us to clear our minds and get back ready to come back even better.”

There won’t be any excuses. The Rams are nearing 100-percent health as they prepare to host a Carolina team that reached the Super Bowl last season but has struggled to a 2-5 record this year.
