I'm guessing that Demoff and Kroenke know what's what. Kroenke is hands off but he isn't head in sand. Meaning he may not tinker or make decisions or force staff to take certain actions but he very likely knows exactly what is going on moment to moment.
I cannot think that Fisher is holding Goff as some sort of a job security thing and thinking "well when Jared gets in and he plays well my job is safe and I'll get an extension".
Whatever ends up happening with Fisher is going to happen whether Goff never plays, play a bit and is bad, plays pretty well or plays lights out (EDIT: meaning this year to clarify). I think Kroenke and Fisher are probably working on a long term plan for this year, next year and the first year the new place opens.
