..because Fisher will always use the "we drafted Goff and haven't been able to play him yet - lets finish what we started" bs... So, then next year Fisher will have an excuse, "well, Goff didn't have experience and needed to grow into the NFL" thing.... which maybe why he won't play him THIS year - so he'll have that excuse NEXT year..
This is exactly what I said BEFORE the Rams traded up to the #1 pick. IMO, Fisher nearly guaranteed himself another year by making the move to get Goff. I don't like Fisher, never have, but I think it's an easy sell to convince Kroenke to give him one more year with a franchise QB.
Right or wrong, he's gonna convince Kroenke that to make a change after this year is to start over and starting over now is the wrong move especially when you have your franchise QB in place. I hadn't seriously considered the holding Goff back angle this year as further job security insurance but if you think about it, it makes sense.
Look for Goff to get about 3-6 games of experience and get some nice buzz going. And as long as they finish somewhere within shouting distance of .500, Fisher is golden.
Stay the course, let's finish what we started is what this is shaping up to be. This is what it's been about since about April.
