I was back in the UK for a family wedding and watched the game at my best friends house who became a converted Rams fan when I took him to a game in Tampa.
I was hopelessly wrong in thinking the anti-Giants and Rams support would balance things out. It was like a Giants home game.
But I digress, here is my question for you.
Amos Tverskey et al completely debunked the 'hot hand' theory of Basketball that you should give the ball to the guy playing best. They empirically proved that there was no value in doing this. In fact, just the opposite. But even so, some head-in-the-sand coaches rejected their findings (and others that supported them after) and many people still think that the HHT is relevant.
My hunch is that teams play better to begin with under a new coach, QB (in football), captain in soccer etc. But I wonder what the stats really are? I wonder if I just remember the times that does happen, and forget the times it doesn't?
I'm rambling I know, but my suspicion is that 'almost' no player isn't concentrating on plays because they don't trust/like a QB. And the flip side is, I doubt any player concentrates more for a new QB.
Concentration is usually (I know it can be improved with mindfulness meditation and maybe that is the answer for Quick!) such an innate skill, that my 'belief' is, unless there are highly unusual mitigating circumstances such as the death of a loved one for example, players don't fluctuate that much.
It would make fascinating research.
