If Goff is truly not close to playing, then two career ending questions raise their ugly heads...
1) Did S&F pick the horribly wrong QB at #1 overall?
A) If so, was it Fisher, or was it Snead that "picked" Goff?
A career ending mistake for the "picker", especially in view of the successes of other rookie QB's this year. An unsurvivable decision mistake.
2) Is Goff's unreadiness the result of coaching incompetence? Hard to imagine that a quality QB picked #1 overall still isn't ready to see the field by game 8. Emphasis QUALITY QB, one that need only beat out Keenum. A complete break from recent NFL tradition with opening day starts by such elite picks. Also a career ending development for those responsible. What team in their right minds would let such coaching incompetence anywhere NEAR their players?
Either way, this is stunning. A genuine fubar of epic proportions. I can't even think of a bigger failure by so called decision makers than to blow either the pick itself of a #1 overall QB (which cost a fortune in premium picks, BTW), or blow the development of said QB if he was, in fact, a worthy choice.
