For one, we all (well most of us) know you cannot trust a thing that comes out of Fisher's mouth.
Second, I have a feeling there is a contract with Fisher's name on it if he meets certain conditions. read:wins
And Fisher feels he either goes into 1)play the rookie mode 2) Stay with Keenum and try and win now to save his job.
I don't think Fisher feels he can do both (play the rookie and win enough games to save his contract.
Fisher is not going to be fired and he knows it so he is going to do whatever he feels is in his best interests, because his contract is either going to expire and he moves on or he is extended.
My guess is Fisher knows he really needs to try and pull off at least an 8-8 season, which means the Rams would have to go 5-4 the rest of the way (possible but not an easy task for this not so good team). If Fisher feels Goff`s rookie mistakes may cost him just one game that Keenum MAY win, he may not risk it and keep Keenum in as long as possible.
That being said, I still don't believe a word Fisher says and I don't think he even knows what the heck he`s doing and may still name Goff the starter next game against Carolina. If he doesn't, I believe everything you say above to be true.
