Please focus on his '16 WR stats only.
They are declining and are at underwhelming levels thus far this year. They just are.
This is despite Fisher's orders to force feed him, mind you.
Sooooo... what would be so wrong about sitting Tavon and starting a healthy Spruce or Cooper in the slot for a series or two? A SERIES or two, lol.
I mean, it's not as if Tavon's WR production would be greatly missed, would it?
And we just might be surprised at the boost that one of these rookies would provide. Especially Spruce.
Call it a scientific experiment, if you like. But either the rookie will make plays as a WR or he won't. If he thrives, it's a team win. If both rookies struggle (which Tavon is already doing anyway), then at least we would know it's not a Tavon problem.
And please. Don't be distracted by the Tavon contract or his successes in the past as a RB or PR. Those are irrelevant. I'm talking about the WR snaps here, only.
And just for a series or two.
While I'm at it, I might as well double down and suggest starting Benny over Gurley for a series or two. Benny has looked very good in brief snaps behind the same OL that Gurley has been struggling behind. Why not run an experiment? Might prove once and for all whether it's a Gurley problem or an OL problem.
Heck, what do we have to lose, anyway? We're 3-3 and on a 2 game losing streak. Playoffs would require us to finish 7-3, at least. Probably 8-2, frankly.
Anybody think that's likely to happen? Me neither. Sigh...
