I think that one was deliberate on his part, for the sake of humor.

And that is the perfect example of the downside of the internet. There are some people who would go ahead and ignore you discussion points and just repeat themselves so it would be easy to think that would be the case.
But if we were sitting around having a beer, that sly old dog would get a twinkle in his eye right when he said it and I would get his intent right away.
A clever line indeed, I just needed the delivery!
Ah well, I owe both of you that beer!
