I think he was doing it last year as well. - JamesJM
This suggests something which actually I believe.
IMO after hearing lots of different things from players and coaches for a few weeks now, I think the Rams offense was out of sync to start the season because the changes Boras put in were just substantial enough to make it like, or pretty much equivalent to, switching systems.
I have seen the Rams offense be out of sync like that before. Without getting into details, there's certain telltale signs of that. That;s how it looked to me for example at the start of 2011 (with McDaniels).
Being out of sync, and people thinking not acting and reacting, and the OL sometimes being a bit confused...all that comes from a new offense not being 2nd nature.
So I would suggest that seeing them live in one of the first 2 games would be misleading. Any claims based on those games would have to be limited ones. So for example, they HAVE been doing a lot of things some people early on said they didn't do or weren't doing. I think all that was just a matter of familiarity and getting more comfortable with the offensive system.
IMO....sometimes the kind of imprecision, hesitation, and lack of cohesion you see in an offense that is out of sync in a new system gets mistaken for lots of other things.
