And as you know I don't want to go thru this all again... but it's not the 'system' of offense, it's the specific play calling WITH.. and this is ALL important, opponent and game situation factored in. In that way.. DESPITE whatever system is in place, it's deja vu all over again.
I wouldn't even TRY to say Fisher has not changed, or adapted, in any way. But the fundamental approach to games, I believe, is a constant. - JamesJM
We don't need to get into this. Actually I kind of balk at doing that. So to me this is more an informal poll type thing. Everyone throws 2 pennies in.
And my feeling is...when something's not working, it;s not the scheme or the playcalling it's execution, due to a variety of factors.
For example both this year and last, they have won games when they have been able to throw downfield and otherwise create big plays. So for example as or right now, Keenum is tied for 3rd for the number of big passing plays of 25 yards or more. A lot of that is play action but it's not all play action. In fact that's so true that's how Buffalo defended them. They took away the deep ball, limited big passing plays, bent to shorter stuff and the run, and tightened up in the redzone (Buffalo is 2nd in the league in percentage of redzone TDs allowed). So, after other defenses were wrong about that (cause they said okay Rams we dare you to throw deep on us) at least one defense has played them precisely to limit big passing plays.
And in terms of those plays...no one sees those coming. No one sits there watching the Rams and says "ah now they will take one of their shots."
Just my 2 cents for now. If you respond I will just appreciate your 2 cents and wait for a day when I have batteries for really discussing it.
