Looks like he is taking the play to the hold called and just trying to get what he can out of it. Its also tough to cut back when they always seem to leave the back side end unblocked. I don't know if that's by design or the tackles or TE's are not taking care of business on the backside.
I won't pretend to be an expert on offensive line or even offense in general but I can say that right nown that hesitation is causing issues for the line. Gurley, Keenum etc. Due to the obvious play calling the defense is playing the odds and selling out to defend the obvious run or pass. The line is already at a disadvantage. Any delay and the line is playing catch up.
I despise ol. I love the D, but I have to have a level of pity for the line. They get lambasted every week. It's poor play, but it's poor play calling. If a DE only has to put his head down and play pass. If a DT and lb corps only have to clog holes on first down then they are always going to have the advantage.
If there is no fear of something other than Gurley on first down, short hit to Austin on second and then third down an 7 pass then they will fail. Holds, false starts, sacks, tfl 's.
