Hiring a new coach is ALWAYS based on chance.
There are no sure things.
I don't claim to have a long list at the ready - but I would take a chance on ANY NUMBER of quality NFL coordinators or college coaches.
With the move back to LA - and the new stadium in 2019 - this is one of the most highly coveted coaching spots in football!
You don't think there are capable people out there who could do what Harbaugh, Carroll, Arians, and Whisenhunt have done? AND YES - they have all suffered failure at times - but none as consistently or for as long as Fisher has - and he has coached longer than ANY of them!
We KNOW what we have in Fisher. And it ain't gonna lead to a Super Bowl Championship. Not in my opinion, anyway. So it's the definition of futility. And/or insanity. Doing the SAME thing and expecting different results!
I would rather take a chance on possible brilliance than settle for known mediocrity.
(Sorry I didn't answer earlier - just saw your post now).
