But....CK is not a "passing" talent. Goff is
that talent. There are many passes that are thrown poorly to wide open WRs...
and it will hurt us. When Goff gets comfortable in this offense as CK has...Goff will thrive and is a better
passer of the football. imo
I'm really happy for CK and our team and stoked that Goff can watch and learn....what a great luxury!!! As for Gurley and the running game? No team can run against other teams when they know yer running. The Rams have been passing and taking advantage of the PA passing which will open up holes. Our OL and Gurley are just fine...other teams have just been daring CK to make plays in the passing game...and they are stunned he HAS! Gurley will have a statement game very soon now that other teams see we can pass and hurt them. Remember, Gurley didn't even play the 1st 4 games last year and still made 1,000yds...nuthin's wrong with him at all he just needs to not get frustrated....cuz it's coming!! It really is now that we have demonstrated we can pass to more than just Britt and Austin.....QUICK has been the big play guy - so there's another threat for teams to watch. Add the running game & Gurley and a true passer in Goff waiting in the wings and I'm very hopeful for our future.
This post is no
dis to CK....he's playing a great and making few mistakes
(cept many missed passes that would extend drives)...he's just a limited athlete. So many times when he was running around back there I had no understanding why he didn't just throw the ball away and not risk a TO. However, CK lucked out in that he made 3 magnificent scramble plays that
worked out for him...but I am nervous he'll keep trying that. Goff has the feet and pocket slide that can make him very very good when he's ready to play. Until then, CK is keeping us in the game and winning them. But, it's the defense that has kept it close and won the games for us...cept that 1st game. Anyway, the Rams are in a good situation and we have some very good young defensive players playing for us and Spruce/Cooper/Higbee are not even playing yet...watching and learning will only help them.
Good times!!
