Well three.
First I don't really care about other rookies starting and playing well. We've seen plenty(we can make a list if you want to) of rookies at every position play well then come crashing down. It's 4 games, not one person on this board can make a prediction. Recall Bradford getting the OROY award?!?
The number of picks given up isn't critical, what matters is WHAT Goff becomes. They feel like he will be good enough to validate the compensation to move up.
Plenty of QB's don't start right out of the gate. It's just not that unusual, and posters are making a mountain out of a molehill on this topic. And frankly beating it to death to the point it's borderline annoying and creating tension.
FROM THE START they were clear, both Fisher and Snead, that he will play when he is ready. If he isn't ready right now it means NOTHING about how Rams coaches can or cannot develop a QB. It means nothing about the value of the trade, it means nothing about Goff's future potential and ability. It's nothing but guesswork and assumptions and suppositions posters are using to further an anti Fisher bash away agenda. It's so transparent a child could see it for what it is.
None of us know what is going to unfold. Goff may end up being an average NFL QB, or he may be a bust, or he may end up being a star and worth every bit of the trade and then some.
My feeling is this. Let's wait and see before we start making definitive proclamations about anyone involved in the trade.
So........who was the guy who couldn't beat out DeBerg and who was the coach that wasn't capable of getting that QB up to par as starter for a year and a half?
