An investment was made because they think Goff will have many many outstanding years as the Rams QB.
Max if you read this that was a terrible analogy. 3 times what he's worth? You don't know what he's worth yet. Nobody does.
If he is only as good as Flacco and plays for 15 years was it worth the trade?
What if he is a top 10 QB year in and year out?
Did they overpay then?
The amount they overpaid is up for debate, but no way was he worth what they paid.
Now, Goff may turn out to be a great QB, but how likely is that? Nobody knows. If he does, then it will be very lucky for an organization that has not demonstrated that they know how to evaluate QBs.
The point is how many good organizations give up so much in a trade up for a QB that they don't believe they can get on the field for who knows how long.
