I guess to each their own. I've been with Verizon and Dish and I favor AT&T. Verizon's service was fine but what Dish offers isn't even in the same conversation for me.
U-Verse has been great for us. If we ever had a problem, they were out in a reasonable amount of time and fixed the problem (no charge). Since they bought out DirecTV, my streaming has been better and if I ever had a question, they immediately had an answer for me. There will always be complaints when dealing with the big companies but I have had just as many problems with smaller businesses too.
Yeah, I've had ATT forever and have always had great customer service and the service its self is great. No long hold times if you ever have issues. Same with directv, always take care of issues and no long wait times.
