Yeah, the GABA drugs (benzos, alcohol) do cause physical addictions and the physical withdrawal symptoms include seizures which can lead to death. Don't mess with your GABA kids, it sucks in the worst way.
I got myself addicted to benzos once - not because I had an rx from a doctor for a legitimate reason, but because I was dumb and had been doing drugs for soooo long with no problems that I thought I was 10 feet tall and bulletproof. Hell, I am GOOD at doing drugs, I know EVERYTHING about drugs, but let myself get addicted to benzos anyway. I was using them because I had a pretty bad habit with a powerful ketamine analog called methoxetamine (mxe). Well, mxe caused insomnia for me, so I would take the benzos to sleep at night. Dissociated all day, raping my GABBA system with benzos every night, Nice, huh?
Anyway, when I decided to quit, the mxe was no problem. I DECIDED to stop a prolonged daily habit of a powerful dissociative drug, and I did - just like that. It was easy because I didn't feel sick, just cravings. Well, the benzos were another matter entirely - I wasn't too keen on torturing myself or dying. I could have went to the doctor and did a phenobarbital detox, but I respect myself too much to let those savages turn me out after 3 or 7 days to a world of hurt (google benzo withdrawal, not something you wanna go through - WAY worse than heroin - WAY worse). Anyway, I set up my own taper schedule and got off the pills over a 5 month period (at my worst, I was taking the equivalent of 200 mg of valium or 20 pills per day- that is A LOT, so the taper took awhile).
My point, other than I obviously like drugs a lot, is that there is a world of difference between most drugs (or activities) that people become "addicted" to (coke, meth, pot, gambling, food, sex) and the few drugs that can actually cause a physical addiction (benzos, alcohol). The difference is, it is a CHOICE to stop doing most things while there are a few that can and will kill you upon cessation. If you ain't gonna die and you REALLY want to quit, then just quit. Thing is, most people don't really want to quit - such as our boy Josh Gordon.
