No disrespect intended.
But I have never bought this idea that a person accidentally becomes a substance abuser. Or the rediculous idea that it is a "disease". Was it caused by bad genes, bacteria or virus? Heck no. It was caused by bad behavior.
You have to use the substance.....a substance that is illegal and has to be purchased on the Black Market......in order to become addicted to it.
This guy has been a rebellious rules breaker going back years. Arrogant. Disregards team rules, school rules, and society's rules. Now he winds up a mess and we're supposed to feel sorry for the guy? Get on his side? Why? Because he's a good football player?
Not me. He has worked hard to get as fouled up as he is. He has done nothing but let people down for years. And it is his fault all the way. He's not a victim; he's a perpetrator.
I do feel sorry for people who have operations or injuries , their stupid doctors give them script after script for Opiods or other addictive pain meds, and then they are hooked and it can be murder to get off these things.
But getting hooked on Coke, Meth, Weed, Heroine, etc. was a strictly illegal act from the beginning, and the person well knows the risks when they do it. The risks of drug addiction have been known, taught, and exposed in every way imaginable for decades. They don't care, just want the buzz or to be popular, or think they'll be the 1 in a 1000 that can quit whenever they want to still falls within their own choice, will, and stupidity.
The dude is simply bearing the consequences NOT of one dumb or uncharacteristic decision; but rather an entire series of decisions that exactly reflects his character.
That the team and the NFL ever allow this guy to play again sends a wrong message to our youth; it says if your a good enough player the rules don't apply to you.
