many years ago, as a younger man. I was training with the Norwegian Home Guard, doing Winter Operations Training. We were on a 3 day skiing trek over the top of one of Norway's mountain ranges. On the 2nd day, while pulling an Akio sled, I fell and slammed my foot into something hard, and broke my big toe. I continued on with the trek, and got a mild frostbite in it on the 3rd day. The day after the 3 day trek, the Norwegian's held a Biathlon event, where I skied on that broken and frostbit toe. I remember it being extremely painful. I placed 6th out of approximately 140 Soldiers. The toe still gives me fits today when the weather turns cold and I'm outside in the elements.
