The run game helps you get the plays outside like this (as I understand it): team runs ball, defense stacks to stop the run, then the outside plays are available.
So if the D comes out already stacked to stop the run hasn't your run game already done what you want it to (i.e. help you get the plays outside) ... before you even run a play?
