I don't like these trades generally, but at least if a team is already loaded with talent, it can work out sometimes. The proverbial "putting all your eggs in one basket" thing. Say, like a New England without a QB but loaded elsewhere. They then trade up for the best QB in the draft. They have the coaching, the staff, and the overall team talent to likely make that work.
The Rams? They
especially don't have the coaching.
Goff may end up being excellent, but I still think it was too high a price to pay. No #1 and no #3, after losing so many picks last year as well -- at least subject to comp picks. But even with the comps, they do in fact lose an extra pick in the 3rd they'd otherwise have.
Oh, well.
