I think it's all about minimizing mistakes. Tackling, blocking assignments, dropped passes, penalties, kicks, bad snaps. I agree so much that more games are lost rather than won in the NFL. When the Rams don't have a ton of mistakes they can compete with any team in this league- and I mean any.
I still believe the Patriots don't win because they make more big plays than their opponents- they win because they make far fewer mistakes. Last night vs. ARZ was a good example.
Play smart and disciplined.
You're singing from my songsheet.
We have been competitively undisciplined for years and years. Fisher has not improved us there as one would have imagined an experienced HC would. It really hurts us.
Now, I don't worry too much about penalties. Frequently, championship teams draw a lot of flags. But, those teams execute when they need to.
Which brings ME back to--you guessed it!--defensive discipline. It's part scheme, as I always say.
It's also about tackling, as you note. Sound tackling, something we far too often fail to do.
Fortunately, I was really encouraged by our first and 2nd units' tackling this PS. Hope that continues.
