If I could link other boards here (which is strictly against the rules) that would be evident. The issue is not "knowing who he is." For example I just spotted where I posted an article of his in Feb, 2015.
The issue was, is he a strong enough credible source that his word gets taken as some kind of gospel. Since there are very few of those covering the NFL, the obvious answer is no.
I always took him as a dedicated Football Outsiders/Bleacher's report type who likes to produce detailed studies of particular players. There are players he has examined, for example, where I took the time and trouble to copy the entire article to a board, pics and all (and for me that was work). I like his stuff.
I don't take him as a kind of first and last word on controversial topics, such as how far along Jared Goff should be at this point. On that I just take him as one more media guy among others....in a debate where lining up media guys on one side or the other is not going to solve the controversy.
My main point was we may just have to live with controversy.
