Should Rams fans be worried about Jared Goff?

In April, the Rams moved from No. 15 to No. 1 in the first round, giving them control of the board. The guy they drafted is now destined to be bored, at least for the start of his rookie season.
Quarterback Jared Goff sits at No. 3 on the depth chart, behind Case Keenum and Sean Mannion. Yes, Case Keenum and Sean Mannion. All due respect to Case Keenum and Sean Mannion.
All due respect to the Rams, why did they take a guy who can’t beat out Keenum and Mannion? All due respect to Keenum and Mannion.
I’ve jokingly pointed out from time to time that the same folks who traded up to take Goff are the same folks who thought Nick Foles was the answer a year ago, all due respect to Foles. Now, maybe it shouldn’t be a joke.
Meanwhile, ESPN has fashioned a cottage industry this offseason on reports of looming extensions for coach Jeff Fisher and G.M. Les Snead. It’s fair to ask whether Goff’s status will become a factor in any last-minute efforts to resolve these negotiations before the last year of Fisher’s initial five-year deal begins.
To Fisher’s credit, he’s clearly not propping Goff up to help Fisher’s case for a new deal. Then again, players tend to sense when a guy is given status he doesn’t deserve. Chances are Goff is No. 3 because he has performed worse than the other two options, and that Fisher’s efforts to avoid “7-9 bullsh-t” from his players will fail if he dabbles in some of it on his own.
