I get what you're saying.
But all my conclusions are based on is what we can see as of now, as best we can see it.
You could argue the same thing about practice. How can a coach know how a player will perform when the bullets actually fly? And yet, they have to choose anyway.
And the same in Preseason. Between practice and preseason games they are going to select many of who will eventually make up the 53 (not all of course).
So as fans, what else do we have to go on? If we can't discuss what we see happening on the field and draw some short term conclusions, then I don't know what good a message board is.
I know when I see a missed tackle.
I know when I see a WR drop a run of the mill pass.
I know when I see a Olineman whiff.
I know when I see a QB miss high, low, or whatever an open WR.
Etc.
Now for sure I can't know what the play was; what all the blocking assignments were, etc. Much of the action isn't even in the field of vision on film.
So all any of us can offer is our armchair amateur views of what we have before us. And that's what I'm, admittedly, doing.
